Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes, if it goes back easily then there is no problem. You will not hurt anything by pushing it back.  Many people have hemorrhoids that come out during a bowel movement. However if it becomes "stuck" outside, hard throbbing and very painful it may have thrombosed. While this will go away eventually by itself, most people prefer to seek immediate relief with medical attention.

i'm a 23 year old male. my hemorrhoids keep coming out every time i sit down on the toilet to go. i have to push it back in constantly is this normal?

Accepted Answer

No : This is not normal.  You need to see a physician to get started on a good bowel regime to give the hemorrhoids a chance to heal.  This would include stool softeners, high fiber, sitz baths, and possible topical creams.  If these measures fail, surgery could be considered.

Swollen hemorrhoid: There is a difference in prolapsing hemorrhoids and swollen external hemorrhoids. Prolapsing internal hemorrhoids are covered by non-nerve bearing lining and can be banded in the office to prevent further prolapse. External hemorrhoids are covered by nerve bearing lining and are located outside. When they swell and cause pain, they are best treated initially with alternating ice pack and warm tub.

May be thrombosed: A thrombosed hemorrhoid occurs when the blood vessel within the hemorrhoid becomes clotted.  It then becomes swollen and painful.  The natural history is that the blood clot will eventually dissolve, but it will often takes 2 wks or more.  Sitting in a tub of warm water may help with pain, as sell as Proctofoam.  But I see a lot of pts who have tried these without relief and they request operation

Not necessarily: Hemorrhoids can be with no symptoms, itching, pain or bleeding.

i have internal hemorrhoids but it appears one is becoming "external". what is treatment?  i can actually push it back in but it doesn't want to stay

Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids are normal veins that can become enlarged, uncomfortable, or bleed with constipation. See a General Surgeon who performs hemorrhoid treatment procedures or a Colon-rectal Surgery specialist to see what you have &amp; what your treatment options are.

why is my hemorrhoid white? its not an abscess. it protrudes during bowel movement and goes back in after standing up. its not painful at all and no blood. also am i supposed to push every time i have bms?

: No you are not supposed to push- a normal BM is spontaneous. Pushing is when you want to evacuate yourself or during constipation. What you see coming out is probably not hemorrhoid pl have your doc check it. good luck

i eat flour tortillas or country biscuits and my body flares up. i get flush, my heart rate kicks up and i have hemorrhoids that push out and spray blood during bowel movements. doctor tests say no celiac disease or crohns. what else could it be?

: This appears to be some sort of food intolerance. You can still be intolerant of gluten but not have true celiac disease which is true gluten sensitivity with positive blood tests or biopsy. Can you identify other wheat products that provoke similar symptoms?

Sitz baths!: Antibiotic or other creams are of little value.  Witch Hazel impregnated wipes help itching and burning symptoms.   Definitive care is Sitz baths with Epsom salts, 4-6X/d tepid water 15 min each.  Avoid straining at stools, increase dietary fiber, avoid dehydration, and see a general surgeon for bleeding or ongoing complications.

: Yes, more likely with external hemorrhoids, but internal hemorrhoids can feel that way as well.
