i accidentally peeled my thumb with peeler and it's been 5 days there was a small peice of skin that wasnt all the way off so i put it back over the wound and the wound has turned purple and itches alot it's also slightly red, is this normal healing?

why is part of wound healing to wash it and keep it moist, but steristrips are kept on until they fall off or the time a doctor says to keep them on? doesn't that go against how to heal a wound?

: No it does not. Open wounds are to be treated with keeping them clean till they heal. Steri strips are used for linear incisions or wounds to approximate them for healing edge to edge.

Rash: A rash that turns purple foes not mean that the rash is healing. In fact, it may mean the rash is getting worse. It is best to see a dermatologist to fetermine the etiology of the rash.

: The "purple" discoloration may occur from bleeding under the skin lesion which required the stitches. The discoloration should gradually disappear with more time.

All the same: Basil is basil.  And as for the "healing effects, " there basically are none.  Basil is said to "aid digestion, " but it's not the basil, it's the food you season it with (tomatoes).  Some say it is an "elixir of love and a charm, " others claim it can be used for "for snakebites, chills, coughs, earaches, spasms, and skin problems."  i could go on, but none of these are true.  It tastes good though!

my buttocks boil is not painful anymore, it is becoming flatter, dry and purple. does it mean it is healing? what kind of care is needed for such stage (e.g. cover it)?

: It does sound like it is healing and if it is dry and there is no wound, it does not need to be covered. If you are unsure if there is a wound, have it looked at to avoid getting an infection. Good luck to you!
