Not totally clear: Some activities, e.g., dancing, gymnastics, modeling, wrestling, place high value on a certain body type.  "success" may become linked to a person being at or near the bottom of ideal weight--and may encourage practices such as binging to achieve that weight.  Susceptible indviduals, once having started, may find it impossible to stop, partly because of effects of starvation on thinking processes.

Possibly: If you are just thinking about purging then you may not have a fully fledged eating disorder however the fact that you are thinking some about it implies there may be a body image disturbance and potentially concomitant distortion in your beliefs about what constitutes a normative eating pattern. Losing weight?: You are wise to consider the possibility. If you are losing weight, don't delay: consult a good psychiatrist (M.D.) or psychologist (pH.D.) with experience in eating disorders (esp. Anorexia, which involves restricting food). Anode tic weight loss is medically dangerous. Even if no weight loss, best to nip it in the bud--or learn there's another reason.

Bulimia Nervosa: If you both eat (binge) and purge, it's called bulimia, or bulimia nervosa. The purging can be by induced vomiting, diuretics, enemas, laxatives, and/or exercise. It is a serious condition that can cause an electrolyte imbalance that can ultimately lead to death. If you or someone you know is doing this, please see a therapist who specializes in eating disorders as soon as possible.

Keep trying: In bulimia, purging becomes as addictive as binge eating.  As you recover, you may have slips but just keep trying.
