Old issue: This is no longer a problem for lasik.  It was in the past.  You can have lasik with any pupil size.

my pupils will constantly get larger and smaller, even when there is no light fluxuation. it chainges evrey second or so, going from slightly dilated to slightly constricted, and back again. any idea what causes this? i can't find anything?

: Eyes dilated from light and nervous system responses. Let us say you see a handsome man and get excited your eye will dilate.   See your primary care doctor for a full physical

See eye specialist.: There are several conditions that can cause different size of pupils (its called anisocoria). You need to see eye specialist to check it.

i wake up with extremely dilated pupils there so big i can't even look in a mirror straight with out getting a wierd feeling. what causes this ?

Not sure.: If the room is dark when this is happening, this may be normal. However, are you on any medications which may cause pupil dilation? If it persists, then you may want to see your family doctor when is happening.

r pupil larger off and on x years when tired. started zoloft (sertraline) 1 mo ago, now 2-3 mm larger consistently. worse in am and dim lighting.  zoloft (sertraline) cause?

See a doctor: You should see an eye doctor to have this evaluated if you already haven't.  Zoloft (sertraline) could worsen an existing condition with the pupil size but you need to make sure that this is benign before we assume so.

Possibly: Contact with certain chemicals can affect pupil size, but there are several other conditions, some serious, which can also affect pupil size. See your ophthalmologist asap.

Dilated pupil: Presumably what happened is that you sustained optic nerve damage &amp; the nerve is not transmitting enough light data to tell the pupil to contract more. The &quot;afferent limb&quot; of the &quot;direct&quot; light reflex is damaged. If a light shined in your other eye causes the dilated pupil to contract, then the &quot;consensual&quot; light reflex is intact. That&#x27;s called a Marcus-Gunn pupil.

remeron (mirtazapine) causes left pupil to overdilate compared to right pupil, so left eye is a bit blurry, esp. when dimmer. everyday. eye doctorsbig deal?

Known side effect: Remeron (mirtazapine) does cause some dilation of the pupils and this can be to different degrees in each eye. The larger pupil especially in dim conditions is causing more light scatter and leading to some blurry vision. If this is significantly bothersome to you, discuss this with your prescribing doctor. Take care.

Interesting question: This may be caused by an intracranial lesion. This symptom warrants an exam with an ophthalmologist. If you do not know of one have your primary care physician refer you to one.
