Yes: The heart rate is within normal limit. If he is very active athletically that can explain why his normal heart beat falls in the the lower side of what is normal.

Conditioning: As the heart muscle is conditioned to athletic endeavors, it  often gets both bigger and stronger. Since the output of the heart is a function of the volume of blood pumped /min, if the heart pumps more with each beat, ot doesn't have to go as fast.

Depends: If the pt has palpitations or feels poorly then a holter and blood work are in order. Maybe even an echo. But if pts fine then probably its fine. Limit caffine and other stimulants. Pts who are poorly conditoned tend to run on the higher end of normal as well.

: Yes, 80 is considered normal and it is expected to immediately rise with activity.  However, given these numbers, it might suggest that your body tends to be overall deconditioned or that you might be hypotensive forcing the pulse to rise more than 10 beats per minute.  You might consider checking your blood pressure while seated and immediately after standing to see how that is also impacted.

Not dangerous!: There is great variability in what is considered a "normal heart rate." Some very normal individuals run a heart rate of 90-110. Exercise, adequate sleep at night, avoiding stimulants such as caffeine all tend to lower the heart rate.

i have had my heart thoroughly checked by cardiologist recently. lately my sitting down resting pulse rate is about 80 beats per minute. when i stand it goes up to 100 to 105 and only settles to 90 to 95 when just standing still. what could be causes?

: Difficult to speculate what the cause might be. Dehydration could be one possibility. Others include medications if any, low grade anxiety etc. The  best advice is for you be examined and further tests be done if indicated. Good luck.
