Probably not: Back of the head pain with neck pain associated with no other symptoms is usually due to a neck vertebra that's 'out of whack'.Could also be due to an inflamed nerve or swollen lymph node.A good history &amp; physical exam, incl. osteopathic hands-on exam should find the cause.Manipulation may resolve it.If other test/treatment is necessary, your dr. should be able to determine that.

when i move my head i get a pain in the back of my head it feels like a pulled muscle. cramp. pulled muscle?

Neck: Could be a pulled muscle pinched neck nerve or neck arthritis. Can find out with an MRI of the neck. Warm compresses might help

: You may have sustained some microtears of ribcage muscles which take longer to heal than a simple strain. See your physician or an orthopedic specialist if continued discomfort isn't gradually improving

Referred pain: Was there an acitivty that triggered this?  There are nerces at the base of the skull that can cause pain to radiate over the top of the head. Also balance is controlled in part in the temporal bones, strain of the muscles attaching there  can be a factor affecting your balance.  Tinnitis can be caused by several issues.  Best to see an ENT specialist.

Suspect muscle: This could be pulled muscle, even nerve, or a condition called torticollis or wry neck. You will need an evaluation and sometimes even an injection of the most tender site. So see your physician and if necessary get a referral
