2 scoops with 64 oz: WATER. Metamucil is not absorbed in the body but it adsorbs water  and forms bulk in your Large Intestine.  So you need to drink water- lots of water other wise you can very Hard stool

Benefiber may be: easier to take. The powder in a can format is easier and cheaper than capsules and you'll get a larger dose which which will help make you regular. Psyllium works well too and is a bulk laxative, and helps moves things through. It s a matter of preference. It also comes as loose powder.

It is still there: When you mix the psyllium in water, it is still there, same as when you add sugar to your coffee--it dissolves in the coffee, but it is still there. Also, it would be difficult to consume dry psyllium powder/husk. So, drink you fibers to good health. Any concern, consult doc. Good luck.

They should not: For the most part, dietary fibers don't really bind to much except good at holding onto water (thus softening stool) and so does not prevent absorption of nutrients. So don't worry, take your fibers. Most of us in the good us of a don't consume enough fibers. If you can, do it for better health. If you have concerns, consult doc. Good luck.

I like psyllium.: When it comes to the management of an otherwise normal bodily function, it's always nicer to manage it'd naturally.  As such, I would prefer you try psyllium husk first - it has a great taste when added to baking or to oatmeal or bread crumbs for recipes, and it will increase further your fiber intake.  Just don't overload with fiber all at once.  35 grams/day in divided doses.

there is always stool in my rectum. everytime i stick a finger up there, i can feel stool. ive tried psyllium husk, increasing my fiber, and drink plenty of water, and still have this problem. what can i do to have my rectum be empty or poop more?

Doctor can examine: One with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, things people try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber-plus-water, Miralax (polyethylene glycol), Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives... A doctor can examine and prescribe meds like Linzess, if needed.
