Maybe: But PP is not a classic symptom of depression or anxiety.  It is probably a symptom of something that is more complex, and requires a more complete assessment.  And, even if prescribed, there is a complex issue of pharmacokinetics in hyponatremia.

Slowly reduce H2O in: Confirm that the diagnosiis. Incidental drug therapy is often the culprit, rare brain lesions can also masquerade as pp .See endo md, pp can be managed.

Yes: Complications of psychogenic polydipsia include incontinence and enuresis, bladder dilation and hydronephrosis, renal and congestive heart failure, and osteoporosis and associated pathologic fractures.

Diagnosis is one of exclusion. Other medical causes of polydipsia, polyuria, and/or hyponatremia need to be ruled out.

Generally not: Kidney damage; however, it likes to play havoc with your electrolytes which can cause problems pretty quickly.  Some sports drinks with sodium, potassium, and chloride can help, but he might need cognitive behavioral therapy because it is a compulsion issue.  This one might be a hard one to treat sometimes because he is too young to understand the consequences.  Do some research to learn symptoms.

Space it out: I would agree that spacing out water would affect your frequency of urination.  If that doesn't change things, you may need to see a doctor to run other tests to make sure it is behavioral or psychogenic as you suggest.  Also make sure to avoid caffeine as this can affect your urination as well.

Unclear: When something is diagnosed as psychogenic, it's hard to predict how long it would last.
It seem important to restrict all your liquids.

Classic causes: But many patients have taken to consuming large amounts of water due to perception that this is valuable for their health.  Diabetes mellitus may be another explanation.  An internist is ideal to figure this out.

See below: If you mean to diagnosis diabetes, then no.  They will look at the urine for gucose and ketones, and the blood for elvated glucose. And, depending upon how sick the child is, there maybe many more tests.

No. : Polyuria is the production of large amounts of dilute urine & polydipsia is elevated fluid intake; usually due to fluid losses from polyuria. These are just symptoms of a disorder & several different disease processes can cause this, with diabetes a common & important one. Diabetes is diagnosed by testing blood sugar levels. Other more rare causes are diabetes insipidus & psychogenic polydipsia.

It may be do: It may be so, but polydypsia means drinking a lot of fluid and it can be a symptom of diabetes.You have to wait till all tests are done and then discuss with your doctor.
