Unclear: When something is diagnosed as psychogenic, it's hard to predict how long it would last. It seem important to restrict all your liquids.

Right away: If your fluid intake has been reduced , your urine output will be proportionally go down.So as you restrict fluid you should see the effect right away.So follow your doctors advice and you will be alright.
