A Basic Concept: The idea is, when one pairs a stimulus with an effect over and over again, that can be called a conditioned response. The classic example is pavlov and his dog. A conditioned response may be something as simple as complimenting your spouse upon arriving home resulting in a kiss. There can be desirable and undesirable conditioned responses.

FDA Approval: According to the food & drug administration, a drug must be proven to be both safe and effective for its' indicated use(s). For psychotropic drugs, that may mean studies have been done in which the drug is either significantly more effective than a placebo, or it is as effective as another drug already approved. It can be unethical to test with placebos for certain patient populations.

See bekow: This is a controversial issue. Many people (and doctors) believe that fibromyalgia is the physical expression of depression and in some cases i would agree with that too. However, many people ( in some studies over 70%) develop depression as a result of chronic pain not the other way round. This is what i see most often.

But the best resource for a full psychiatric/psychological evaluation is in person with a live professional interacting with you.  Some areas may have telemedicine resources available with doctors.  In these, the evaluation is "online" on camera, through a protected internet connection (not through email).
