: Many times these conditions can have some similar appearances, but the location of the lesions may be very helpful in making the diagnosis...along with a very good personal and family history. Perhaps you might want to obtain a second opinion. Also these disorders do respond to several similar topical therapies.

Inflammation?: Histological findings from biopsy may also suggest eczema or inflammation. If the report didnt mention it specifically, you can ask your doctor to request the pathologist to review biopsy slides again for the same. If no evidence of eczema or other pathology, you may have this as a side effect from BCP, of which there is evidence in the literature. Try stopping BCP for short time to confirm.

Some basics: Bright red blood found on the surface of poop is most likely fresh &amp; from a cut/fissure/sore at the outlet. Darker maroon blood would come from higher up in the system &amp; be more worrisome for a problem needing colonoscopy.Dark blood mixed within the poop can be from an infectious disease like salmonella but these are usually marked by diarrhea.
