It varies.  : This can vary from type to type of bone cancer.  Ewing's sarcoma has a good prognosis, even with metastasis, as 25-40% can be cured with high dose chemo. And stem cell transplant.  Chondrosarcoma has an indolent course and is resistant to chemo., and is treated by surgery.  Osteosarcoma metastasizes to the lung and can still have long term survival if these are resected.

Difficult to say: Without the type of cancer and past or ongoing treatments but unfortunately if it has metastasized there is a very poor prognosis and would be thinking in terms of months. Best to ask this question of your doctor.

70 year old aunt had bladder removed bc of bladder cancer, she had bowel problems after surgery ct scan showed spots. doctor ordered full bone scan (idk what type, pet?) she had a ct scan a couple weeks ago but was fine. could she have bone cancer?

: I assume she had a nuclear bone scan which can detect bone metastases. A CT scan can also detect malignant involvement of bones. I can state that your aunt does not have bone metastases from her bladder cancer. I trust her physicians agree.

Few common ones: Pain, elevated calcium with it's resultant problems, brittle bones in spine needing cementing to minimize chance of compression fracture.
Need to consider Denosumab or bisphosphonate treatment.

Prostate Cancer: According to the American Cancer Society, the relative 5 year survival rate for distant stage 4 prostate cancer is 28%.  This is a statistical estimate, it does not predict the course of any one individual.  Talk to your doc for a full discussion.

Pain at the spot: Pain will ussually be at or close to the area where the metastasis is, especially if there is a fracture.  An exeception would be injury to a nerve that may cause pain distant to the site of injury (for example pain that shoots down the leg in lower spinal nerve damage). Note that patients with multiple sites of bone mets may not hurt the same or at all in each spot. Best to you.

Not sure: Bone cancer has very specific imaging findings as well as symptoms. Metastatic prostate cancer to bone is a late stage disease phenomenon, and most unlikely in a 49 year old. Not sure which blood tests were normal (psa, alkaline phosphotase, ?), so am not positive how to answer this.

Small but definite -: Chance with your hx of prostate cancer. 
See your orthopod to get investigated.  I am sure your oncologist must be following you if its only been 2 yrs since you had radiation.
I am sure he (she) can also tell you.
Prostate cancers are generally amenable to radiation treatments and pts do very well.
So check with your rad, oncologist ; an orthopod, as early DX means early treatment.
