At : At your age, knee cap problems (mostly inflammation) are very common.  This is known as patella femoral pain syndrome or chondromalacia patella.  Without any injury or trauma, this is the most likely diagnosis.  This can usually be treated conservatively with anti-inflammatory meds, ice, exercises to strengthen your leg and balance the muscles supporting the knee cap, and sometimes bracing.  If there has been an injury, a cartilage tear (meniscus) is also a consideration.  Evaluation from your pediatrician or orthopedic surgeon would be very helpful to confirm these possibilities.

In regards to your ankle, unless the fracture when you were 7 didn't heal properly, inflammatory issues such as tendonitis is probable.  There are other less common potential causes for your pain, and like your knee you need to have xrays and an evaluation from your doctor to know for sure.

Acl: Continued instabilty after acl sugery could indicate failure of the original surgery or misplacement of the graft.

Genetic vs. disease: Symetrical  (both sides) arthritis at an early age suggests u may have an underlying condition like rheumatoid arthritis. Genetic factors can play a role. Best u see a rheumatologist to have an inflamitory arthritis ruled out and/or treated to prevent further joint involvement.

i am 41years old. i did not have problems with my knees until i moved in my apartment because i have stairs. what can i take or do to stop?

Several things to do: I suggest seeing your doctor to consider an X-ray of one or both knees. At 41, there may be a component of arthritis present. Aside from that, if you are carrying a bit of extra weight, work on losing bodyfat.  You can also work on strengthening the thigh &amp; hamstring muscles which directly impact the knee joint. Also consider anti-inflammatory supplements like fish oil, curcumin, and boswellia.

You probably can't: You probably cannot fix it by yourself. The first thing is to have the knees evaluated to determine the cause of your pain. That will tell if self-help will work.

Many possibilitis: Most likely: post injury, ligament problem, bursitis, sprain. If persits see you physician. Try first elastic wrap, heat and nsaids for example aleve, (naproxen) advil or ibuprofen.

Yes: Yes, a knee arthroscopy is probably the most sensative way to determine if the internal structures have been injured.  The reason we don't usually do a knee scope to make a diagnosis is because there are many noninvasive ways to detect injury and many knee injuries do not need surgery.  So a physical exam, X-ray, and possibly an MRI go a long way in finding the diagnosis before surgery considered.

i been having a problem with my knee everytime i work out what's wrong? i constantly have to stop and stretch it out but it's still a discomfort.

Many possibilities: There are many possibilities of knee pain, from strains/sprains of soft tissue structures to fractures of the bone.  It is difficult to assess your situation with the information given, but the best advice would be to follow up with your doctor for a complete assessment.  They may need to do x-rays or an MRI to better assess you.  Take great care!
