Yes but: Yes the primatene will help with the asthma symptoms by opening the air passages and the Guaifenesin (which is an expectorant) will help break up chest congestion (mucous)  so if chest congestion is present Guaifenesin will help. Primatene is probably not the best choice for the asthma- a prescription inhaler would be better so ask your health care professional about it.

No choice: First of all primatine mist  was used intermittently by some but abused by others. If you have asthma this is not appropriate treatment and could cause you long term consequences such as emphsema. Asthma is an inflammatory conditionand require appropriate meds to control. If treated appropriately asthmatics use a rescue inhaler less than once a week. Seek appropriate medical treatment.

No: I am unfamiliar with a tablet form of primatene, only an inhalational form sold otc as a bronchodilator. Primatene is Epinephrine and has a heightened risk of causing significant patient harm when used in error. Although one of its side effects is anorexia (loss of appetite), management of obesity is not a labeled or unlabeled use of this drug.

Of all the...: ...Bronchodilators, Epinephrine (active ingredient in primatene) is shortest-acting, and with the most side effects. I would recommend alternative medications for all types of asthma.
