Phased out: Primatene (epinephrine) mist was phased out as of dec 31, 2011 primarily due to cfc's (chlorofluorocarbons) being banned and other better asthma medicines.

Removed from market: There are currently no over the counter asthma inhalers in the us. The manufacturers of primatine are petitioning the fda to keep it available. No actions as of yet. Available prescription rescue inhalers more specific with fewer side effects. Recently a new otc inhaler has been released. It is called asthmanefrin. I recommend you speak with your physician before starting any medications.
