I would suggest: At least 4-6 hours if possible.  Anti nausea medicine may help as well.

No: Dimenhydrinate is used primarily to PREVENT motion sickness. You take it about 30 minutes before the perceived precipitating event. The only off-label indication for this medication is to prevent the nausea and vomiting associated with first-trimester pregnancy, also known as "morning sickness" to many women.

Accepted Answer

The one that works : The best medicine will be the one that works for you. There are plenty of antimausea medication- from compazine, reglan, phenergan, (promethazine) ondansetron, steroids etc. Ginger also can help prevent/treat nausea.  The most important here is for you to be proactive - take it before you vomit. Once you vomit- it will be hard for you to swallow any medication. Talk to your doc to give you any of the above.

Yes: Several different agents can be used for nausea and vomiting caused by chemo. There are drugs like Zofran (ondansetron) and anzemet. Marijuana also helps and the active ingredient is marinol, but my patients swearing smoking marijuana was better for their nausea than the marino.

No: Loratadine is ineffective for this. If medication was needed would likely be Compazine(prochlorperazine) or 
Zofran(ondansetron).

Many ways...: If you tend to have postoperative nausea and/or vomiting or if you are susceptible to carsickness, be sure to let your surgeon and anesthesiologist know. There are medications that can be given before, during, and after surgery to minimize this. Unfortunately, a few people still have this problem.

Accepted Answer

Common side effect: Nausea is a common side effect of birth control pills, especially when you first start them.   It resolves in most cases. If not, you may need a different formulation of pill or different contraception method. Take them with food to help prevent nausea. You can try Pepto Bismol for nausea.

Imitrex (sumatriptan) &amp; zofran: Should not. see

Imitrex is a vasoconstrictor and is not for nausea. it should not be used  with ergotimine or  SSRI/SRNI ( prozac (fluoxetine) class).

Yes: Yes,they are used for similar purposes. Whether it is just as effective or not can be individual.

Nausea~: hello~ Zofran is reserved for severe nausea that accompanies chemotherapy, so I would use something safer and first line like Compazine (prochlorperazine), (prochlorperazine) which would work better than metaclopamide, but metaclopamide can be used in mild cases.You will need to ask your doc for a script for Compazine (prochlorperazine). thanks
