Cleanliness/Godlines: This would depend where on your bum the infection might be and what caused it.  Overall,  keeping wounds clean (good old soap and water), dry and free from soilage is the best protection.  Watch for signs and symptoms of infection: fever, pain, redness, heat at the site, drainage and seek medical attention if any of these occur.

Use good wound care.: Stop bleeding by applying pressure. Rinse wound w clean water. Clean surrounding skin w soap &amp; water on wash cloth. Remove debris w tweezers. If material remains in wound – seek medical care. Apply antibiotic ointment. Initially cover w bandage until some healing has occurred. Change bandage when soiled/ wet or at least daily. Need tetanus shot if you haven't had one in last 10 years, don't know

Heal it fast: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

: If grater is not cleaned and sterilized properly you could be at risk. It has been 18 years since last TETNUS shot so a new shot is well worth it.

i accidentally cut the inside of my nose. it did bleed for a few minutes. i am not sure how to clean to prevent any infection. what can i do?

: Hello. Fortunately the nose has a very rich blood supply which means that as long as your immune system is normal, your nose should heal without any further treatment. If you have bacitracin at home or bactroban ointment, you could place a bit on a q-tip then place inside your nostril then give your nose a squeeze or a dab. You do t need to put it inside too far. Saline mist can help too.

cut my finger pretty bad and  pharm. said to take amoxicillin to prevent infection
