Bladder problem?: When you say pressure down low, that makes me think you may have bladder issues.  Your bladder is located just on top of your pubic bone.  Otherwise, down low may be related to uterine sensations as well.  Fibroids can cause pressure too.  One cannot rule out intestinal issues as well.  See a physician and they can perform an exam and rule out anything serious.

Often: While not everyone who is pregnant has constipation, it's very common.  Progesterone, one of the primary hormones of pregnancy, causes your bowels to more more slowly, and that means that more water gets absorbed from your stool, thus making stool harder by the time it reaches your rectum.  I like MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) or generic equivalent for prevention of constipation in pregnancy and when not pregnant.

Diet: Eat a high fiber diet (mostly fruits and vegetables).  Drink lots of water.  Exercise everyday, especially in the morning.  Eat prunes everyday.  If your constipation is very bad and your blood count is ok you can take an iron-free multivitamin.  If your constipation is still bad, you can try over-the-counter remedies such as colace (docusate sodium) and certain laxatives.

Constipation: Pregnancy confers multiple physical and biochemical changes .  Constipation is a common event  usually secondary in pregnacy to dietary changes or dehydration.  Eating more fruits and vegetables will usually assist. Consult your healthcare professional before using laxatives, as some are not desireable in pregnancy.

Depends on severity: But, no - it isn't common just due to pregnancy. Drink water regularly - at least 8-10 8oz glasses a day. Maybe eat a few prunes or drink some prune juice for a few days. Don't use OTC laxatives w/o talking w/ your doctor. And don't be afraid of calling your doctor with questions - pregnancy is special - and this is your first time. Ask for recommended dietary ideas.
