Bone marrow: Bone marrow cellularity refers to how much of the marrow is making blood cells, and how much is fat. As people age, it tends to decline and move more centrally. Severe hypocellularity may indicate aplastic anemia or even leukemia, which needs treatment. Lesser degrees may or may not, depending on other symptoms and lab findings.

Not likely: A standard blood draw, with CBC and differential--especially with comparatives over time should help accomplish your diagnosis. See your doctor for referral to a hematologist and oncology team--asap.

Chronic anemia: Not uncommon, in normocytic anemia  if they want to see how the cells are generating  RBC, whether it is making  cells or not making cells.  Have you also been tested  for celiac disease, thyroid disease G6PD,  and medications  that can sometimes cause anemia  as well? .

Sedation?: If you have to by chance be under anesthesia or heavy sedation, your doctor may want to expose you to anesthesia one with two procedures versus anesthesia twice.

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it depends. Bone marrow has focal areas of mostly fat.  Depending on your other blood tests, it may not be cause for concern.

my monocytes level is about 1,200 and usually hovers around that number. its  been like that since i have been getting routine blood work in my early 20's and i am 39 now. i also had bone marrow biopsy in my early 20's due to this. is this normal?

: Yes, it is your normal. The count has been stable and you do not seem to have any symptoms, so it is your normal.
