Notify obstetrician.: Tell your ob. 1. Wear underwear that is cotton vice synthetic 2. Avoid wearing underpants when you go to bed at night. 3. Don’t wear tight fitting panties & pantyhose. 4. Use natural tampon/ feminine pads (avoid those which are scented). 5. Avoid douches as well as use of harsh, drying soap on genitalia. 6. Rinse genitalia very well after soaping up.  7. Try wearing pants that fit loosely.

i'm 20 weeks pregnant. have a yeast infection, i saw my results online. i was told earlier in my pregnancy when had infection to use any over the counter. is canestan 6 day cream treatment safe? i hear mixed answers saying monistat is safer.

Yes: Monistat is a safe and often effective first-line anti-fungal treatment. It will help to relieve the symptoms of most "run-of-the-mill" vulvovaginal yeast infections. You may find generic versions of Monistat (miconizole) in various pharmacies, which might be more cost effective for you. There are 1, 3 and 7 day treatment options.
It can be used in pregnancy as well.

i have three days left of my 7 day yeast infection treatment. is it safe to use a tampon now? this is the first infection i've had, so  i'm not sure.

If bleeding, yes: If you are on your period then yes, please use the tampon. If you are using the tampon for other reasons, then wait until your treatment course is over.

Not really: It's not "unsafe" but it is not going to treat the infection.  It may provide some relief of the irritation and itching but should be used with caution as this is a potent steroid.

Yes and no.: Vaginal cream Monistat is safe in pregnancy, however i would recommend only using it after your obstetrician has examined you to diagnose a clinically significant yeast vaginitis.

Safe, effective: "Cheesy" vaginal discharge indeed could be due to yeast infection. Fluconazole is safe in pregnancy. Your Ob would not have recommended it if it weren't safe. Check with her if you remain concerned or in doubt.

Yeast infection: These are quite common in pregnant women particularly during the second trimester.  During pregnancy physicians recommend vaginal creams and suppositories only. The oral medication, Diflucan (fluconazole) (a single-dose medication), has not been proven safe during pregnancy and lactation.

Other issues: I would check for other things  such as gestational diabetes if you have recurring or non responding yeast infections.
