Accepted Answer

Yes and yes.: You can get positive followed by negative if the test was done improperly or if the  pregnancy failed for any reason. Should repeat the test in a few days.  The chemical detected in the pregnancy test doubles every 2 days or so should be unmistakeable in another few.

Only too early...: The pregnancy tests are testing for the presence of a hormone that is made when you are pregnant --- if that level is too low (ie too soon) then the test may be falsely negative.  You will not get a "false negative" because you took the test too late.

Possible!: Assuming the stars aligned just right and sperm was present in the uterus at the time of your ovulation (even 5 days beforehand!), you could conceive and that would be day 0. Hcg (pregnancy hormone) is sometimes detected at the time of implantation (once reaching a level detectable by your lab ~3miu/ml), which is anywhere between 6-12 days after fertilization. So, yes!

: Blood tests are more accurate. Did you follow all the instructions for the urine test, including reading the strip within the prescribed period. Delayed reading can give a false positive result. If it has been more than 5 weeks since your last period, your doctor could perform an ultrasound to look for fetal sac.

Yes.: You should do the home test 4-5 days after a missed period. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions in the kit carefully. Testing ealier may give a positive result but a negative result is not reliable.
