None: I can't say i've used bleaching gel for normal cleanings. We normally scale the teeth with either hand scalers or an ultrasonic scaler and then polish with a toothpaste-like medium.

Yes!: You should still see your dentist twice a year for a cleaning. Brushing and flossing remove plaque but not all of it. As plaque is left to harden it creates tartar, only a dental hygienist or professional cleaning can remove tartar buildup. Additionally, it's important to see a dentist regularly to prevent any problems, like cavities, before the get worse.

It's all good: There really is no con to either of those.  Regular waterpik use will help keep you teeth and gums clean and healthy; however, it's not a substitute for flossing.  Dental floss is the only way to clean the point at which the teeth physically touch each other.

Close but not exactl: Brushing frequently is great but you cannot get your teeth as clean a dental cleaning by a professional. They can clean your teeth and get the deposits of calculus off the areas that your tooth brush just cannot reach.

Not necessary: It was probably a good thing.I can't think of anything that a tooth cleaning would stir up that would make kissing bad for either of you.

Depends: Depends on pre-Rx gum/bone damage.  Do not even consider OrthoRx unless your supporting tissues are completely healthy.  If you have even early onset gum disease I would recommend that your General Dentist have you evaluated and treated by specialists, a Periodontist and an Orthodontist for best quality, most successful, treatment.

A dental cleaning : Is also called a prophylaxis (or prophy).  A more aggressive cleaning is called a scaling procedure.

Dental hygiene: You will wish to discuss with your dentist or his/her staff what measures are in place to protect you from the hygienist and the hygienist from you.  Some things may include:  staff wearing eye protection, masks and maybe a face shield.  Social distancing in the waiting room or limiting the number of people in the waiting room.  Clean your hands and wear a mask until the cleaning starts.
