Diligence: There are several ways to minimize multiple pregnancies with fertility drugs. Use of the lowest dose possible is helpful in minimizing the risk as this reduces the number of eggs produced by your ovaries. Monitoring egg development with ultrsonography and avoiding pregnancy in cycles with high egg production is also helpful. All fertility drugs will increase your chances of multiple pregnancy.

Chemical pregnancy: It is unlikely that there is anything wrong with your reproductive system, as long as you haven't had a previous std.  My advice is to keep trying.  Admittedly if you've been trying for 2 years then you should see a reproductive endocrinologist.

Exercise may help: Abdominal and core exercises may help to strenghten the abdominal muscles and as a result may improve diastasis recti. This is not an hernia as there is no defect in the rectus fascia, hence there is no risk of bowel herniation or strangulation. If it persists despite exercises and interferes with your daily activities then you may consider surgical plication of the rectus muscles to each other.
