i took prednisone and now i'm late on my period. what should i do?

Check HCG: I would check a pregnancy test. If you are not pregnant then give it some time. You may just have not ovulated this month and thus will not have a menstrual cycle. It probably has nothing to do with taking prednisone.

took 40 mg dose of prednisone on tuesday. my period was due sunday but it did not come. took another 40mg dose monday. still no period 5 days late.

Pregnancy test: If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

can taking prednisone for 10 days cause you to have an early period?  im not due until january 15th(also im usually late)  and i am having cramping.

my period is 3 days late, i usually have a 28 day cycle. negative hpt. i was on prednisone that cycle for hives, can that have anything to do with it?

Steroids: Yes this is likely the explanation. Oral steroids can interfere with your hormones as can any stress on the body that can change your menstrual cycle. As long as you are sure you cannot be pregnant than no need to worry it will more than likely go back to the schedule in the next few months. If not visit with your gyn.

i'm on prednisone and i heard it could delay your period..i'm 3 days late and i have been cramping a lot..is that a delay or could i be pregnant??

Take a test : If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy.  Prednisone does not delay periods. Whatever problem is requiring you to take prednisone could potentially be related.

took 8 days prednisone for sinus infection, now period is 5 days late. not pregnant, never late like this. is this effect of steroid?

Menstrual changes: More than likely , menstrual irregularities caused by prednisone and most steroids. If symptoms persist follow up with your doctor and get labs checked especially TFTS.And if still no return of period an abdominal/pelvic US and gyn consult

Period: It is possible to have an altered menstrual cycle during acute illness and additionally the Imuran (azathioprine) may also alter your cycle itself.

Some thoughts...: Pregnancy is the most common cause of a missed period. If not pregnant, other causes of a late or missed period include:  excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (especially birth control pills), hormonal disorders, etc…  a visit to one’s regular doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.

Rule out pregnancy: First do a pregnancy test if there is any chance you might be pregnant. If you're not, there are many other hormonal issues that it could be. Sometimes just a change in stress or weight may change the time of your period. See a gynecologist if your period is not coming monthly.
