Back pain : If you are having back pan and can not breath you should be seen. The prednisone should help this not cause it. There is some cause for your symptoms.

It can be injury of one of the spinal structures: It can be injury of one of the spinal structures.  Uncertain why you were given prednisone. I don't know what imaging you had, but since this lasted that long and suggest injury either to the bone or soft tissue

Upto 2 weeks: It usually takes upto 2 weeks to get feel the effects. Most patients feel relief faster but i'd recommend giving it some time.

: Suggests that inflammation may not be the cause of the pain but give it another 2 days. Call the Dr who prescribed it and knows what they think in going on.

Prednisone?: What was the reason for Prednisone in the first place?  Prednisone does have a wide range of side effects including gastritis, bp, increase glucose.  Serious reaction can include congestive heart failure.

very bad low back pain and sciatica. is okay to take short course of oral prednisone if my a1c is 6.8 ?

No: Studies show no to low benefit for lower back pain with oral steroids. You need rest low back school and a pain management referral. Naproxen 500 twice a day and flexeril 10 mg three times a day prn are preferable. You need a full exam to rule out cauda equina, weakness and other surgical indications. Risk also &gt; benefits with diabetes.
