Low fat: Generally at least for the first few weeks after gallbladder surgery we recommend that you avoid foods that are high in fat or fried foods.

Anything, but...: Beware. Any food with oils, fats, or dairy may cause cramping and / or diarrhea. None of these will hurt your body, you just may not feel so well. As for bland diets, there is no reason that what you eat can't be flavorful. Spices and seasonings have nothing to do with bile and its functions.

Accepted Answer

No: Low fat diet can sometimes prevent the onset of symptoms of gallbladder disease, however once you've had symptoms you are very likely to have future attacks.  Those future attacks could occur at anytime after any meal and at a more inconvinent time of your life.  Surgery also prevents infection and pancreatitis.

i am having constant heartburn. have very low fat diet because had gallbladder surgery a month ago. taking lansoprazole, domperidone. not better. help?

GERD: These are symptoms of GERD, need to be on anti acid meds, avoid smoking, caffeine, chocolate etc, eat small meals, don't eat close to sleep time and similar precautions you can follow from any good website on this topic however most important thing is to get yourself evaluated by your doctor and do discuss it with your surgeon, you will need further work up. Good luck.

Unrelated: You are far enough removed from the surgery so that it should not be the cause of your fatigue. Best to see your doctor.

Extremely safe: When done in an open procedure one must identify and divide the cystic artery and not mistake the hepatic artery for the former.  The cystic duct is then tied at the common duct and GB removed  Normally a laparoscopic procedure is used.  With marked inflammation the GB procedure should be done open.
