What did your Ob say: U should be asking your OB and I am sure you also are being followed by a perinatologist u can get swelling without pih and water wt gain but u need to be watched closely as if your pressure keeps going up u may get pre- eclamptic pih is sys BP above 140 and dias above 90 and u need to have the urinary protein monitored as a 24 hr urine can be done to see how much you're losing and liver func test.

No: Pre-eclampsia usually resolves without any problems once the baby is born.  Occasionally you can have elevated blood pressures for a few weeks to months postpartum, especially if pre-eclampsia was severe and may need to take a short course of blood pressure medicine.  Women with eclampsia or severe post-partum pre-eclampsia can very rarely have long-term neurologic complications.

Depends on age: The treatment of preeclampsia depends on the gestational age of the fetus. The goal is to balance what's best for mom and what's best for baby. Around 37 weeks, the baby can be delivered. Earlier than that, mom can simply be monitored for complications as long as preeclampsia is mild. Patients may be given magnesium to prevent seizures and medication to lower blood pressure.

Preeclampsia: Preeclampsia is a disease of pregnancy that progressively gets worse over time. The cure is delivery. Depending upon the symptoms and the severity of the process as well as how far pregnant a women is determines management which at times can be conservative or at times merits immediate delivery. If the process becomes severe there is risk to both the mother and the unborn fetus.
