The issue in this case is that localized control does not make much sense if the primary tumor has already spread to other locations. It is uncommon to treat tumors in more than one area, and even less so to treat them in three areas, using such targeted techniques. A far more common approach is to start with systemic chemotherapy and then "clean up" any tumors left over with thermal ablation. There are a lot of interventional radiologists in ontario who are familiar with thermal ablation. Tamoxifen: Valodex/nolvadex are other names for the generic drug tamoxifen. It is an antiestrogen and blocks the effects of estrogen in the body. It can be used in breast cancer, dcis (ductal carcinoma in situ, pre-invasive breast cancer) and non-cancerous conditions rarely. Some cancers need estrogen to grow and this can block that growth.
