i'm postmenopausal, i haven't had a period since feb of 2016. i am spotting quite a bit, have real bad cramps and lower back pain. what should i do?

Postmenopausal bleed: Postmenopausal bleeding should always be evaluated by an Obgyn. In most cases it is benign but in some cases it isn’t. Generally after confirming the patients history and exam will be done as well as a pelvic sonogram to evaluated the endometrial thickness. If needed an endometrial biopsy may need to be done

hello;  i began a week or so ago having thick stringy discharge, first clear and now brown, along with cramps and back pain. what could it be?

Brown = Blood: A normal period lasts seven days or less. If you're having old brown blood before or after your period, then that's not normal. Occasionally we have some spotting during ovulation.  If these symptoms persist, i generally recommend seeing a doctor for an examination and possibly an ultrasound to check on this type of problem.

OTC NSAIDS: Advil (ibuprofen) or Aleve- if not ER-ASAP

Accepted Answer

Yes: After pelvic surgery, many times pain can persist for a few days/weeks and can radiate to the back.  If it does not improve see your doctor that did the surgery to make sure you don't have any complications from the surgery.

Probably pregnant: Recheck in a day or two and the faint positive will probably become a stronger positive.  This is about the time that pregnancy starts to become detectable on urine tests.  Congratulations!

Timing is everything: The cause of the bleeding and pain depends very much on their timing during your menstrual cycle. If the bleeding &amp; spotting occurred around the time you were expecting your period, then it could be menstrual cramping or even pain from endometriosis. If about halfway between periods, however, id be wondering about possible ovarian cyst rupture. May want to take a home pregnancy test too, ok?

i had protected sex with my partner and now have white milky discharge what does it mean with little back pain not sure feels like cramps?

Unclear-See a MD: Probably worth getting seen and checked out.  Could be that you have a Urinary tract infection.  Seems hard to believe, but maybe a sexually transmitted disease.  Could be just from hormones and progressing through your cycle.  If you don't normally get back pain with your cycle, worth seeing a physician to be seen for this further.

Yes: They can occur. What you want to look for is associated bleeding. Keep on mind that early pregnancy can have some spotting during implantation of embryo.

Advil (ibuprofen) & Ca: Short term, ibuprofen, mid term, take calcium citrate supplements (like citrical, or trader joe's), long term  see an md to rule out other problems.

found out im pregnant on the 4th ive benn having lil back pain and cramps in and off i think im 3 weeks pregnant what can be going on? is it normal?

Prenatal care: Once you find out you are pregnant it is important to choose an Obgyn who can guide you through the process. They will do an examination, blood work and likely  a sonogram to make sure everything is progressing normally.
