Need gyn eval: Your condition requires gyn eval.  Could try simple progesterone withdrawal treatment.  Give progesterone for 10 days then stop.  Should have period.  If not then hormone testing in order.  Best to see and discuss with your gyn provider.  Need a thorough history and exam done prior to discussing possible tx or eval options.

Complex: Sexual problems are common after heart surgery. It may not be your medicines at all. Give it time.

how effective is pep (post exposure prophylaxis) medication? i have read that old mono-therapies were around 80% effective. what about new treatments?

Accepted Answer

Very effective: There are no research studies to document the actual effectiveness of PEP. (It would be ethically impossible to research this by giving some people real PEP and comparing to untreated people on placebo.) Based on animal research and clinical experience, current multi-drug PEP is believed to be nearly 100% effective if started promptly. Effectiveness is less certain after 24-48 hours

i got got 2 teeth removed 2 days ago and i was wondering what color should the area have, my gums have a light yellow color around the area , i followed every step post extraction took medication, applied pressure with gauze, applied ice outside etc.

Spotting: Yes, surgery or illness could affect the menstrual cycle. You may consider using condoms for the next month for additional protection.

The best one is...: ...Estrogen, of course. It has the highest chance of working. The problem is that it has potential side effects from the cancer and cardiovascular standpoint and is not for everybody. There are other alternatives like antidepressants, soy-based products, or even hypnotherapy, all with varying degree of success.  Patients in this situation should talk with their gyn about this.  Best to you.

PTSD treatment: One way is time, although in the meantime the person is likely to suffer and be miserable. A perhaps better way to treat it without medication is to undergo psychotherapy. There are many effective therapies for ptsd, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt), exposure therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (emdr).

Many possibilities : Throat clearing is from gastric reflux, post nasal drip, too dry saliva, retained throat secretions because the pharynx can't clear them, pharyngeal diverticulitis, foreign body sensation from globus, habit, chronic nasopharyngitis, and others.  It rarely indicates a serious condition but i would be most concerned if there is coughing or choking with swallowing, hoarseness, or abnormal swallowing.

i am having a thorocoscopy in a month and was just wondering what the pain is like post op and what medication i will get? they may cut off blebs.

Don't worry: Pain will be minimum that will lost for just for few days and do not need strong narcotics and your doctor will decide.  19 yr getting pulmonary blebs is unusual . It is relatively painless procedure.

: Monitor breathing and temperature, drink fluids and eat a healthy diet including protein sources. Diabetes screening may be indicated. If you have vomiting, fever,pain, please see acute care. Please follow up with your physician.
