An Annular Annoyance: Annular erythema doesn't mean it comes once a year. There are supposedly many causes that have to be investigated including bugs, drugs, foods and some more serious illnesses. That's for you and your doctor to figure out. In the meantime, topical steroids may quell some of the redness and other symptoms, like itching or burning. Often it will go away on its own, or with the help of the steroid.

It will go away: Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation usually goes away on its own. Sometimes it may take several months. There are certain creams which may help improve the appearance.

How long?: How long has it been since acne areas have healed?  If within 6 months, time may be all you need.  If red areas persist certainly IPL can be beneficial to reduce redness.  Laser resurfacing, peels, dermabrasion help for texture irregularities and smooth ance scars and lines.  They would likely not be my first choice if you just have redness though. Hope that helps.

Aloe: Rozex is a homeopathic gel containing aloe as its active ingredient. You may try it .  Oil and moisturizer may soothe the discomfort but would not affect the inflammation. OTC topical hydrocortisone for a few days may be helpful but prolonged use may actually trigger acne.

A few things: Beta blockers or pills which slowed down your heart are sometimes used. A  medicine called Clonidine is next.Behavioral therapy to decrease your anxiety is another option. Surgery is the final option when nothing else works. A dermatologist who specializes  immunologic problems can be found at most major medical centers.
