No, sorry: If you have symptoms from your gallstones, surgery is the way to go.  After a "lap chole" as we call it in the biz, you'll be back on your feet in a week or two.  I wouldn't advise waiting, if you pass a stone into your bile duct it can be devastating.

3 questions here: Echogenicity likely from fat deposition-commonly associated with obesity, diabetes, some meds., alcohol. Rx: lose weight, keep diabetes under control, limit alcohol.  Gallstones: no symptoms, no rx. Symptoms: pain, vomiting related to the stones-rx: surgery. Usually belly button (laparoscopic), may have diarrhea for some time after procedure. Always potential for surgical complications.

No, but...: ...It's the most effective.  Gallstones can be dissolved by ultrasound waves (lithotripsy) or medication, however, new ones will form.  The only effective way to permanently get rid of stones is to remove the "gallstone factory", the gallbladder.  Thankfully, this can be done by minimally invasive outpatient surgery.  Most importantly, though, this is only recommended if one has symptoms.

NO not affected: Gall bladder ( liver ) will be in normal RUQ position as it develops from foregut , not from midgut , will cause int obstruction gangrene of gut as it  will twist , yes if it is detected , correction will be done the adhesive bands ( ladd's ) will be removes, right colon will be brought to rlq if possible.

10-40%: Up to 40% have some degree of post-cholecystectomy syndrome though it often improves so only about 10-15% of cases are chronic. There are a variety of causes and sometimes the cause is not found, but dietary changes and supplements can often  help.

Gilbert syndrome: In Gilbert syndrome unconjugated bilirubin does build up in the liver and I believe that this could lead to formation of bilirubin stones in the liver, bile ducts as well as the gall bladder. A gastroenterologist could verify this.

i read that gilbert syndrome patients have higher chance of developing gallstones. i have gs and got cholecystectomy due to gb polyp. does that mean that i should worry about intrahepatic/cbd stones? will udca help? out of frying pan into the fire

30 y/o female history of ehlers-danlos syndrome hypermobility, cholecystectomy, appendectomy and rectal bleeding. is it common to manipulate colonoscopy and hemorrhoid banding tools via the vaginal canal? i'm having vaginal pain post these procedures?

: You may have a referred pain, those procedures do not involve the vagina. However, if you observe discharge or blood coming out from the vagina along with the pain, you should see a GYN doctor. Rarely, a procedure done in the rectum can damage the genital organ in front of the rectum. i.e. the vagina, due to their anatomic proximity but I doubt with just hemorrhoid banding.

is it normal not to have an appetite after a cholecystectomy?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Early after most any abdominal surgery, and for a couple weeks after surgery, it is common for a person to have a diminished appetite or feel full sooner after eating. This resolves as you heal and after you become more active & off narcotic pain pills. Drink plenty of liquids & eat smaller non-fatty meals more frequently at first.
