Immediately: In the most common setting a urine pregnancy test done on a first morning void would be expected to be positive at the time menses is missed. It can be falsely negative if done early or on a poor specimen, but by a week later should be also. Some normal women occasionally skip a cycle or two when they are not pregnant.

Pregnancy Testing: You did test a bit too soon. I would advise waiting another few days before testing again.  If you test this soon and it is still negative you will want to keep testing.  Please be patient.

Couple of reasons: Could have been an initial false positive pregnancy test, or today could be a false-negative test.  Could also be something more obscure.  Recommend that you get a blood pregnancy test (gold standard of lab pregnancy tests).

Yes: An early type pregnancy test may provide an accurate response prior to anticipated period date. If it is negative and you don't get your period - can retest in one week.

Depends on other risks: Your risk of ectopic pregnancy depends on your other risk factors.  If you have had a previous ectopic pregnancy, pelvic infection endometriosis or pelvic surgery see your doctor for an early ultrasound.

Not an STD: No STD causes missed periods or positive pregnancy tests. Being pregant is the only reason for a positive test! Howver, since you&#x27;re obviously concerned about STDs, you may be at high risk -- so I would suggest being tested to be safe. But not because of these particular symptoms.

Pregnancy test:  What is done is done.  Would proceed with your pregnancy with great expectations. Don't drink alcohol or smoke. Make sure you take prenatal vitamins.

Neither: Ectopic pregnancy wil not cause the hpt to be positive early. If may take a little longer, but the appropriate time to do hpt is 4-5 days after a missed period, use first morning urine the follow the in kit carefully.

Confusing post: You are more likely to have a false negative pregnancy test than a false positive. They are often negative early on but become more consistently positive over time. If there is confusion just have a blood test run to confirm or exclude pregnancy.
