I had a positive pregnancy test about a week ago (2 weeks after my missed period) i took a different test today and got a negative. why would that be?

Couple of reasons: Could have been an initial false positive pregnancy test, or today could be a false-negative test. Could also be something more obscure. Recommend that you get a blood pregnancy test (gold standard of lab pregnancy tests).
