my grandfather had meniere's disease.i get positional vertigo that resolves and comes back for over 10 years, popping in ears...likely the same?

No: Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes spontaneous episodes of vertigo — a sensation of a spinning motion — along with fluctuating hearing loss, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and sometimes a feeling of fullness or pressure in your ear. In many cases, Meniere's disease affects only one ear.

ear pain & crackling sound occurs under med/loud sounds, & when belch.  sometimes i hear popping in ears. had myringotomy. did not help. what next??

Eustachian Tube: You may have a blockage in the Eustachian tube - this is opening in the back of your throat to equalize pressure in the middle ear. You may be getting acid reflux affecting this area. Clear.ease Lozenges (www.grossan.com) are enzymes to reduce swelling; taken one 4x a day helps to reduce swelling at the opening.

Kind of long: for uncomplicated viral URI.  It could be allergy.  Consult with your doctor to make sure that you don't have any serious condition.

pressure and popping in ears and head. neurologist and ent didn't help. had mri and hearing test both normal. antibiotics and steriods didn't work.  no other issues. going crazy...any ideas...?

ALLERGY TESTS: Sounds like allergic rhinitis/sinusitis, if you have not get your self checked for allergies my advice is to get that checked.

URI: You have a viral upper respiratory infection. See your doctor for a throat culture to rule out strep throat. Drink plenty of fluids and use your vaporizer . If symptoms persist more than ten day see your doctor to be treated for a sinus infection.

Airline ear popping: The eustachian tube at the back of the throat equalizes pressure between the atmosphere and the inner ear.  When going up pressure comes out and is usually easy.  On descent, the higher outer pressure has to re-enter.  This is facilitated by yawning, stretching the back of the throat and chewing gum can be helpful.  Do not blow as this may enter secretions into the ear.

2 different problems: Itching in the ear canal is usually caused by dryness and if you are a q-tip user, please stop immediately. Ear wax has an important function and will clean itself.
Popping sensation in the ear is separate and is usually an awareness of air entering the middle ear from the back of the nose and a gentle popping of the ear drum. Rarely, popping can be due spasm of middle ear muscles.

Barometric pressure: If you've had a bit of a cold, or eustacian tube dysfunction, that can cause a "popping" in your ear.  Also, if you are a swimmer, water retained in the ear canal can do that.  If you are an aggressive q-tipper, wax can get pressed up against your eardrum and dry there, causing "krinkly" popping sounds.

i went to a rock concert last night & i had some pain in ear but it went away.  when i ate food i noticed popping in my ear will that go away in time?

Damage temporary but: Music is very loud at a concert and can cause temporary damage causing difficulty hearing.  The long term effects of music too loud may cause hearing loss.  Just like all things you should do them in moderation.  If frequent to concerts consider the loss you might face.

i get a really fast thudding in my ear but its not in sync with my heart beat, why is this? feels like a very small popping in my ears?

: . It looks like you ruled out tinnitus with your observation. If an ear exam shows no wax buildup, ear drum inflammation and you have no nasal congestion , you may have some eustachian tube dysfunction. This tube goes from the back of your nose to the middle ear. An ENT specialist can exam and advise you best.
