No : Usually not. Embolic strokes are generally painless - hemorrhagic strokes cause headaches.

Number of things: Could be high blood pressure, stroke in the back of the brain, medication side effects, heart rhythm problems or simply benign vertigo.  If headache and/ or dizziness is severe and symptoms are recent i would recommend going to the er.  Otherwise see your doctor soon.

Most without headach: More than 85% strokes occur without significant headaches associated with them. When you say "silent" stroke I think what you mean is a stroke which there are no obvious neurological deficits. Those can and do occur. Talk to your doctor if you think there might be a problem.

Definitely...: Any form of head or brain trauma can cause headaches. Having said that, since there are so many reasons for headaches that range from caffeine withdrawal to brain tumors. You need to see a physician if over the counter medications are not helping.

Maybe: There are different migraine varieties, and strokes have been reported in female patients who suffer auras (classical migraine), who also smoke, and take oral contraceptives.  Rarely triptans (such as injectable imitrex) can trigger a stroke or heart attack.

See below: A transient  ischemic attack lasts less than 24 hours. A reversible ischemic neurologic deficit lasts between 24 hours and 2 weeks. A caerebrovascular accident is permanent.

Headache: If you've had a headache for such a long time you need to see a doctor ASAP.  You need to have your blood pressure checked and may need a CT scan or MRI of the brain. With your age I would be more suspicious or a migraine or an aneurism than a stroke. Either way you need medication attention

Cva: Headache length of duration depends on the damage associated with the headache and its pathophysiology. All strokes and all associated headaches are not necessarily the same.

i've had a headache non stop for just under 4 weeks now (post birth). if it was a stroke, can it present as a chronic headache?

See your PCP ASAP: Headache itself can cause stroke. In ischemic stroke, headache can be present in a fair number of patients, but other neurological symptoms will be present as well. Regardless, the headache that persists for 4 weeks is a red flag and visit to your PCP is warranted.
