No: If  you  poke  any  tissue  it  would  be  more  irritated  ,  there  is  no  time  limit  when  l/nodes  would  go  away   ,  ithink  you  meant  swelling  of l/nodes  please  donot  pke.

But it is most likely not to turn a spot 'hard'. Lymph nodes that are swollen are usually fighting off or taking care of an infection or other something that is foreign to the body.

If there is pain or fever you may need to be seen.

Yes indeed: If you poke often enough and firmly enough, the area will definitely become tender and probably swollen. If you can't feel an obvious large lump by very light pressure, then nothing is wrong -- don't keep trying. Anyway, there are very few illnesses that cause lymph node enlargement as the only symptom. If you otherwise feel well, there's no point in looking for lymph nodes.
