Not different: Pneumonia is a lung infection.  A lung infection confined to just the larger air tubes in the lungs  would be called bronchitis, one that spreads to the lower airway and air sacs is pneumonia.

Yes and no: Pneumonia is an infection of the lung but there are others such as lung abscesses, septic pulmonary emboli, tuberculosis etc.

Possibly: Pneumonia is one type of lung infection.  Generally when someone is described as having "pneumonia" healthcare providers are thinking of a bacterial infection of the substance of the lung.  Some forms of pneumonia / pneumonitis can also be caused by viruses.  Infections of the breathing tubes without infection of the lung tissue is sometimes called bronchitis.

Yes.many: There are many types of lung infections that can occur. They vary in location, degree of severity, as well as type. They can b viral, bacterial, or inflammatory due to another irritant. They can b localized or diffuse. They can cause severe , mild, or seemingly no symptoms.  They can be located inside the lung, in the lining of the lung, or even next to the lung.

hello i have scars on both lungs due to pe when i had both covid and pneumonia last year. i have chance of chest infections/virus. i caught covid again but ok. but lungs inflamed. constant cough, mucus and pain. will i get pulmonary fibrosis? thanks?

: Pulmonary fibrosis itself is a restrictive lung disease which generally occurs secondary to inhaling dusts such as coal, cotton and silica as well as other irritants. You may get some intermediate "fibrosis"; or have some scarring as a result of a healing process but this isn't the same as pulmonary fibrosis. You should followup with your lung doctor for testing of airway disease if concerned.

Intuitively, : Intuitively, this doesn't sound like a good idea. I'm assuming you are not contagious otherwise you would be putting other people at potential risk in the small confines of a plane. There would be potential issues with increasing coughing jags with dry pressurized air. On descent, pressure changes in an ear with impaired eustachian tube function could create pain and pressure in your ears and possibly sinus areas.

Not necessarily : A chest infection can be either viral or bacterial. Both of these can cause the mentioned crackles. Plead follow the advice of your doctor and return to see him if your symptoms worsen.

Chest xrays: are much more specific than sensitive. If you have a normal chest xray it is unlike but still possible to have a viral or bacterial infection. Chest xrays are usually normal in many asthma patients, including some who are in exacerbation.

Not much: Pneumonia is usually used to refer to an infection in the clusters of breathing sacs in the lung. I suppose you could say a bacerial infection of the entry of the lung (tracheitis) could be defined better that way but I have never used it that way.To me they would seem to mean the same thing.
