Should be OK: Hi. We must assume the thyroidectomy is being done for thyroid cancer. In the hands of a good surgeon, recurrent laryngeal nerve (the nerves that drive the vocal cords) damage is extremely unlikely, and the surgical wound heals quite quickly. So if you're comfortable, go ahead and sing! And good luck with your thyroid disease process! And it's how long you have to wait, not "weight".

Depends: It depends which hand the displacement is on, and how you're using that hand.  Could over-stress the hand that's doing the chords -- plus be pretty painful.  You might speak with a hand surgeon or a physical therapist about your specific injury, and best ways to rehabilitate it.

Fixation/protection: Typically clavicle fractures that require surgery are fixed rigidly with and platr and screws. This allows for better correction of displacement and earlier healing. Depentant on the contact associated with the sport, there are times professional athletes can return. Remember, however, professional athletes have certified athletic trainers working with them several hours a day, not typical patient.

play drums: Yes you can , if you knew how to play before the surgery you can play them now.

Yes: Depending on the extent and severity of a herniated disc problem, there is always a possibility of a patient returning to their normal level of function while being treated conservatively (without surgical intervention).  All the best!

Guitar hands: Nondisplaced 4th mc fractures are generally stable as long as you are careful.  The fracture usually heals by 6 weeks.  If this is your strumming hand, you are probably safe to play guitar by week 3.  If the fracture is on the fretboard hand, then you will likely be too sore and stiff to play before week 4 or 5.  You should generally protect the hand for 6 weeks.

No it is not ok but: No it is not ok if you have a tear in acl
but it may be a good idea to talk to your orthopedic doctor if you can.

Accepted Answer

: It is reasonable to resume your normal life activities after the recovery period defined by your surgeon who knows your case and the extent of work needed in the procedure. It likely differs within a defined range depending on when/how it is done.
