Relax. It will fade.: Most likely because of pressure you developed bruises. It will change colors and finally will fade away.  It should stay painless and should not turn red. These are signs of possible infection. If thatvhappensbthen you have to see a doctor. Otherwise don't worry.           Good luck.

Flow: The portal vein runs between your stomach and your liver. When you digest food the basic products are collected in your stomach circulation and delivered to your liver by the portal vein. Regular flow is 20 to 40 cm/s.  This is measured by ultrasound. The ultrasonographer takes a cross section of your portal vein and are able to measure flow. You are flowing, but your rate is slower at 9.2 cm/s

Swelling bruise: A 'popped vein' may mean that the vein 'leaked'.  Veins are tubes containing blood -so they don't pop like a balloon.  However, if a vein is injured -usually a direct impact or injury - the vein can 'suddenly' leak.  In that case, you would experience a rapidly developing bruise with swelling and sometimes pain.  A normal vein clots quickly, so the leak will stop limiting the swelling.
