If risk is greater than 7.5% American expert panels recommend considering a statin medication.  European experts do not consider statins until your risk is much higher - 20%. The other agents you are discussing do not have the same benefit as statins.

Contradiction in: terms. Plant sterols are drugs of unproven usefulness, but you do not want to take other drugs of proven effectiveness! Given that you have diabetes, it is imperative that you control your blood lipids, if that requires taking statins, what is your objection?
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Lower ldl: Diet is the number one way to lower ldl, but taking plant sterols and stanols will help prevent some absorption of dietary fats. Your super high hdl is protective. I don't recommend your taking cholesterol lowering medication at this time and would be satisfied with LDL under 130, but your personal physician can advise you best.

Unlikely: Once growth plates fuse at the end of puberty, linear growth stops. Adults grow taller under only very very rare circumstances!  Good posture and exercise with stretching can maximize a person's height potential, but new growth does not really occur.
