Follow up needed: In light of recent ACDF procedure, you new onset syndrome suggests possible nerve compression again in the cervical spine.  A follow up visit with your surgeon is warranted to figure out causes.

Carpal tunnel: It is usually because of nerve entrapment syndrome. Can be because of problem at wrist or neck. Sometimes hormone and electrolyte anomaly can cause. Vegans, females with repeated pregnancy and alcohol abusers can have it because of B12 deficiency.

~40min of irritation: It's like an electrician giving you small shocks upstream and measuring responses downstream in your nerves, and about 15 min of poking with a needle.

Please see below: If these symptoms are in the hands only it most likely to be a possible carpal tunnel.
If these symptoms are in the feet too, it will be more systemic condition.
In any case being evaluated at the office of your local neurologist and have ncs/emg done will help to establish diagnosis and treat the symptoms based on the nature of the condition.

Possibilities: Your symptoms could be due to early peripheral neuropathy, may be an early presentation of multiple sclerosis, might be associated with hyperventilation, may be a reaction to a medication, could be due to vitamin deficiency.  Talk to your primary doctor about evaluating this.

Get evaluated: There are several things to consider in the differential diagnosis.  Ulnar neuropathy is one of the possibilities that might trigger these symptoms.  Other possibilities might me a cervical radiculopathy if there is neck pain or a lower trunk plexopathy if there is history of trauma.  You might need to be seen by a Physiatrist or neurologist and an EMG shoulder be carried out.
