It : It is hard to fully understand your description of symptoms such as these without further information regarding the diagnosis given thus far but there are several nerve related problems that can turn on or turn up the signal in nerves giving pain and discomfort. A peripheral neurpathy can be due to a variety of things, rsd can be ralted to an injured nerve or nerves, hormonal and metabolic problems including thyroid diseease and diabetes can affect circulation, nerve tissue and dryness of skin. Circulation conditions and temperture realted disorders can occur. Smoking can bring on a certain level of problems as well as certain medications

it is equally inport to rule out anything focal such as a peripheral nerve compression like carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel or a simple tendonitsi that aslo may be acting as an underlying trigger for your problem.  Talk to your physician about seeing a specialist or two with the idea that they may not solve your issue directly but can rule out some otherwise simpler diagnoses.

saw my dr. yesterday & she said i have tendonitis in one finger & the side of my hand. she prescribed cortisone cream, (very strong) will this work?

Not very well: Corticosteroids in cream form don't penetrat the skin, but r good 4 itching ; rashes. Oral nsaids, aleve (naproxen) or Ibuprofen work well. Determine how u developed it ; try 2 avoid the activity. If very bothersome c a hand surgeon ; a locally injected steroid is very helpful. Some forms of tendinitis r resistant 2 even this ;@ times need surgical release of the tendon sheath.

Tennis elbow likely: If the out prominence of your elbow aches just off the front edge, then lateral epicondylitis is most likely. Supportive care: rest, ice, compression and nsaids usually allow symptoms to fade away over time. Avoid provocative activities until improved.

Possibly: The most likely cause is a carpal tunnel syndrome and this median nerve entrapment can be related to scarring or inflammation related to the previous surgery. Have the issue evaluated.

RA : typically involves bilateral joint welling over 6 week, AM stiffness over an hour. Check esr, RF and anticcp.

Yes this can.: This may well be an epicondylitis and can make the arm very painful and numb. What are you doing in the gym? Are you lifting weights or doing repetitive exercise I would recommend you see an ortho for further dx and then get the doc to recommend alternate exercise to prevent recurrence.

One condition that: Can show up as pain between fingers in the web is tendonitis or trigger digit of either finger on the palm side in the flexor tendon. Pain can seem to be in the web but actually the palm may be tender near the finger palm crease. And just near it in the palm under knuckle   this is not often written about but its is something i've observed many times clinically. / check your palm to see if so.

Unlikely: A tendonitis of the hand would cause pain, swelling and tenderness along the flexor tendon of usually one finger. A stenosing tenosynovitis would cause a trigger finger. Isolated stiffness would not be a symptom. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, which usually causes numbness and tingling in the hand, can occasionally present itself  just with numbness in the thumb and index finger.
