Possible blood: This fresh appearing substance sounds like blood mixed with mucus and could have stemmed from a small anal fissure that opened up with the diarrhea. If it doesn't subside, call your pediatrician for an examination.

i've had diarrhea for over 7 days.  often the stool appears to be only thick mucus with light reddish/pink streaks.  how do i know if that is blood?

Only option : As described, that would be the only reasonable thing it could be. Diarrhea and its inflammation/irritation  can cause small blood  / pink. If grossly bloody, need seen, usually in the ER.

should i be concerned about 2x rectal bleeding after diarrhea in 10/19 and 5/22, there may have been red/pink blood specks on toilet paper in my 30s, i am now 45. chronic constipation if i dont take mag. no bleeding recently or regularly?

: Needs more description of the kind of bleeding before we can speculate. In your scenario you should have an exam by your doc for hemorrhoids and then a colonoscopy if he/she feels its indicated

Yes it can: Bleeds can occur with such parasitic infections.
Occasionally rectal fissures associated can also do that.
A good exam and follow up stool sample test is important.

See gi doc: You may need to have a colonoscopy to determine if there is any colitis. At the minimum you should have stool tested for infections and inflammation markers. Hope this helps.

: You have infectious enterocolitis and blood can mixed with mucus in diarrheal stool and that is not uncommon. It can be caused by viral or bacterial infection. The condition is usually limited and resolving in 3-5 days. If you have high fever and symptoms get worse after 3 days, oral antibiotic may be indicated, especially if you were traveling recently.

I think there may be: a couple of explanations. You may have been exposed to a food bacteria experiencing only mild symptoms of food poisoning. OR your mucus/mildly bloody stool could be an allergic reaction to the food. Either case suggests a visit/evaluation by your Doctor. Expect stool cultures, possibly blood work. I would put my money on recurring food allergy/sensitivity which, hopefully, tests will identify.
