i was diagnosed with a 4.2x4.3 non hormone secreting pituitary tumor back in feb. now i have a 3.2cm ovarian cyst. are they related?

Unrelated: Hi. We must assume your pituitary tumor units are MILLImeters (mm, not cm), or else it's HUGE. But no, no relationship between a non-functioning pituitary adenoma and an ovarian cyst. They're just coincidental.

can a pituitary adenoma move from being on the right side of the pituitary gland to the left side of the gland or is this only possible for a cyst? are all pituitary tumors stationary? its just that it is on the right on my past reports but now left?

: I wouldn't expect a pituitary adenoma to switch sides.  I suspect that some pituitary cysts can be mistaken for an adenoma. It's conceivable that one cyst dissolved on one side &amp; another appeared on the other side. Perhaps the radiologists should review all your studies to determine if a.mistake or a typo was the cause of confusion.

i have a mucous retention cyst or polyp in maxillary sinus. is there any relation to my pituitary tumor or to the fact that i have always had a poor sense of smell?

Smell - yes: Mucosal thickening from sinusitis does indeed affect your sense of smell. Likely unrelated to your pituitary tumor. Did you try saline rinses?

what would be a good remedy for hormonal, facial cystic acne caused by pituitary tumor? i already tried spironolactone & bcps without much success.

Facial acne: Pituitary tumors which affect hormonal functions are rare.  Facial acne is usually a function of fluctuations in estrogen production, and that is not always b/c of a pituitary tumor.  Bcp's will control facial acne, but depend on taking the active pills in the evening, at the same hour each day to avoid estrogen withdrawal, which causes the acne. Try another brand of low dose oral bcp's.

Pineal cyst or tumor: Pineal cyst is a non-neoplastic glial cyst within the pineal gland.  Pineal tumor is usually neoplastic, benign or malignant.

A biopsy or imaging: True pineal gland cysts are not brain tumors; rather, they are a completely benign cysts. The large majority of pineal gland cysts do not enlarge much if at all. However, some do enlarge over time slowly. Even though pineal cysts are benign and usually harmless, they can mimic a tumor, they often need to be distinguished from other cystic tumors via biopsies or imaging study (ie MRI of the brain).

Pineal cyst: It is not big. It is probably benign and can be evaluated by mri.Usually they don't shrink . This size cyst should not cause any visual problems

It can be dangerous!: If you have a pituitary tumor you need to make sure you follow up with your physician as directed. Unmonitored and untreated, it can cause a lot of problems.

MRI: Pituitary tumors often cause changes in vision. They can also secrete certain hormones which can cause various symptoms. If there is significant concern, an MRI can diagnose a pituitary tumor.
