Common: Multiple studies have shown that women treated with IVF have a much higher rate of lower back pain after treatment and during pregnancy. Talk to your IVF Dr and discuss the possible underlying conditions. Use Acetaminophen for pain relief and alternating ice/heat compresses on your back for relief.

DRY SKIN: Icthyosis, or "fish skin" is a genetic disease where people have very dry, scaling skin.  It is not just dry skin from cold weather or from using harsh soaps. It can be improved by using certain chemicals on the skin, but cannot be cured and will be passed on to children. Like all other dry skin conditions, it is worse in cooler and dryer climates, and better when it is warm humid areas.

has anyone gone through ivf treatment and gotten the flu?

Vaccinate!: Ivf patients should treat their bodies as if they are already pregnant. During flu season this means getting a flu shot.  If you already have the flu, call your doctor. If it is severe it may be best to postpone the ivf. If you proceed, your doctor will likely recommend that you drink lots of water, get lots of rest and keep your temperature down with (usually with tylenol).

IVF consult: IVF is a big step for most people and you are correct wanting to inform yourself as best you can. There's a lot to learn and go over, so seeing a specialist in the office is always the best way to go. Many Women: There is no typical egg donor. May someone altruistic who has already had children. Maybe someone who had a friend or family member with infertility. Maybe someone who herself was adopted. It is very common now so there is no prototype for an egg donor.

RetinA: Yes you can use retin A (tretinoin) during your IVF  treatment

Accepted Answer

Yes: There are several methods to evaluate the embryo that is created from ivf. Pgd, cgh, and single gene disorder testing.  Each one is used for different reasons.  If you let me know what your concern is i can tell you which embryo genetic test is most appropriate.

can regaine(minoxidil 2%) use affect fertility or interfere with ivf treatment?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Rogaine (minoxidil) blocks testosterone action in a variety of tissues.  It can not only adversely affect fertility, it is teratogenic (causes birth defects).  Do not take if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

i had an ivf treatment after which i had miscarriage and then after that every 10-15 days there is some amount of bleeding.is this abnormal?

Explain to MD: You need to convey this issue to the Fertility  GYN MD unless a D &amp; C surgical procedure was performed to make sure that the uterus is empty and free of any residual fetal material from the miscarriage which can cause this type of bleeding.

i went through ivf treatment, my ovaries were hyper-stimulated. i must wait 6 weeks before my fet procedure. is there a protocol without stim meds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, no ovarian stim: Yes stimulations for frozen embryo transfers are done without stimulating the ovaries. Your risk for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome should be exceedingly low.
