Yes: As always, a proper evaluation by a spine specialist (pm;r physician, ortho spine, or neurosurgeon for example) is needed.

Chronic burning in the back of the neck can be nerve root irritation, but can also sometimes be referred from the cervical facet joints.

Rather than caring about which term is used or site of pain, it is more useful  to gain a understanding of the precise medical diagnosis and cause of pain.

Cervical radiculopat: I would call your PCP.  Sounds like a pinched nerve, or cervical radiculopathy.  Based on your primary care provider, they may see you to check you out, or send you to the Emergency Room.

Pinched nerve: There are a lot more you can do.  Prednisone,neurontin, muscle relaxants--- physical therapy. 
Remember that most cases heal without surgical intervention. F/I with your PCP

See your doctor: Pain that severe needs to be worked up by your doctor in person.  He/she will listen to you, perform an examination and possibly order some tests to see what's wrong with you.
