i had 3 crown buildups with pins. a week later i was told all the of those need root canals. is this normal?

Your dentist tried to restore your teeth with the hope that the pulps would survive. Unfortunately, you will need root canal therapy in order to save your teeth. This was unlucky but not unexpected.

Isometric exercises to strengthen the erector spinae muscles (stationary bike, one hour 3x a week, swimming, rowing machine, yoga) and keep your body mass index (bmi) at 30 max.  Transforaminal nerve root block may stop the inflammation/pain. Any motor loss (foot drop or plantarflexor weakness) or numbness should trigger a trip to a neurosurgeon.

Get EMG: It would seem that you have a cord compression, but you need an EMG/NCS (muscle and nerve study) to determine how serious the cord compression is vs a different cause,,such as carpal tunnel, which could also exist. steroid epidural cervical injections should Improve symptoms for some time. Please wear a soft cervical  collar while driving to prevent injury should you have an accident.

can a root canal stop gum bleeding on all my gums? for quite a few years, even when flossing daily, my gums, all over my mouth, bled quite easily. it only took 1 or 2 days of missed flossing for bleeding to become worse?

Bleeding gums: Sign of periodontal (gum/bone) disease that has gone untreated for what sounds like many years. Periodontal disease is an infection that can severely damage other organ system. You need to see a specialist Periodontist now. Please don't ignore the red flag signals your body is sending you.
