Amino acid, no-maybe: You need phenylalanine in your diet as it is one of the essential amino acids that you cannot make.  However, in this case the reason it is likely listed on the package is because the product probably has aspartame (an artificial sweetener that contains phenylalanine) in it and by law foods with aspartame must list it to warn people with the rare disease phenylketonuria that it has phenylalanine.

Side effects are not: Common w ginger. However doses &gt; 10, 000 mg (fresh) or &gt; 4, 000 mg (powdered) aren't recommended long-term.  Allergic reactions are rare but can include swelling of mouth, tongue, face, throat;rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing ; chest tightness. It may cause heartburn, bloating, gas, belching, diarrhea ; bad taste. It may effect blood clotting -so consult dr about use w anti-inflammatory &gt;.
