Migraine medications work best taken at the onset of pain. Ibuprofen helps about 45% of people, Excedrin about 59%, and sumatriptan tablets about 65%.

If over the counter medication does not work, your doctor may prescribe a migraine medication called a triptan such as imitrex, maxalt, relpax, (eletriptan) etc.

People with this experience discomfort even with low light intensity that would bother no one else.
